Wallets
Track balances in
tokens, credits, or dollars.
The native stored-value layer for SaaS and AI companies that tracks balances automatically as they are used.
Trusted by 2,000+ SaaS, AI and subscription businesses worldwide
How it works
Configured your way, tracked all the way.
Wallets tracks the balance behind every credit, token, or dollar a customer has left, updated the moment usage is recorded, whether that’s a connected meter streaming events live or a manual entry.
Configure
Add a credit pack or token type to the catalog and set rollover and expiration policies, no engineering ticket needed.
Fund
Provision a wallet when a subscription goes live, based on its entitlement value. Reload it on the entitlement’s schedule, or top it off manually.
Track
Log every usage event to the ledger, from a connected meter or manually.
Alert
Set a threshold to flag low balances before they run out, or enable auto top-ups to refill automatically.
Query
See the balance with a single API call, or subscribe to a webhook to stay in sync whenever it changes.
Built for modern monetization
Wallets is one piece of how Maxio is building the infrastructure for modern monetization: metering captures usage, entitlements define what a customer gets, and wallets tracks the usage balance. Together they show what a customer bought, what they can access right now, and how much they have left.
WHY MAXIO
One platform from quote to cash
Maxio is the platform that powers monetization for subscription and AI businesses, connecting CPQ, billing, rev rec, reporting, and payments into one system, so growth doesn’t mean adding another vendor.
The monetization engine underneath flexes to any pricing model, seat-based, usage-based, credit-based, outcome-based, or a mix, and an MCP server gives AI agents direct access to the same data. One platform built to grow with the business, not just handle what it needs today.
Frequently asked questions
Two ways. Automatically: set up an entitlement once in the product catalog, and a wallet is granted and funded the moment a customer signs up for a subscription that includes it, then reloads from there on the entitlement’s own schedule (monthly, annual, or a one-time allotment that never repeats). Or manually, a top-up added whenever you choose.
Yes. Each allotment added to a wallet can carry its own expiration, and usage draws from whichever allotment expires soonest first. Set a fixed expiration, let unused balance roll over, or set it to never expire.
You choose the behavior per wallet: hard stop at zero, bill the overage in arrears, or top up automatically before it empties.
A meter can post directly to a wallet instead of generating an invoice. The same usage event either bills a customer or draws down a balance, depending on how the product is set up.
Take an AI company selling API access. Set an entitlement for 10,000 tokens on a plan, and a wallet provisions automatically with that balance already loaded, no separate setup. From there, a meter posts every API call straight to the wallet instead of generating a bill, and reloads keep pace with the entitlement’s own schedule. All three run on the same subscription record as billing, so there’s nothing to reconcile between what a customer bought, what they can access right now, and how much they have left.
Two kinds. A unit balance for anything you count, credits, tokens, or whatever the catalog calls it, or a dollar balance that draws down like cash. Same ledger, same rules, either way.
