Jon Cochrane
Jon has spent 15+ years across both sides of the accounting problems he now solves: first as the controller closing books at 3AM and stitching together systems that were never built to talk to each other, as the product leader building the software to fix it and now in the CFO seat at Maxio, bringing the finance team from the back office to the front office.
This AI transformation feels like someone walked into my workshop and dropped off a brand new set of tools with no manuals. They’re way better and way more capable than what I had. But now the work is figuring out how to actually use them and it’s a genuinely fun problem to have.
I do believe in this era you have to be a builder. You simply can’t call yourself AI-native if you are not re-thinking how the work gets done. There is zero reason a finance department should be considered back office. There’s too much opportunity to move to the front office and drive transformational business activities.

About Jon
Jon Cochrane is the CFO of Maxio, the all-in-one billing platform built for B2B SaaS and AI companies.
Jon began his career in public accounting and financial advisory at EY before moving into controller and FP&A leadership roles at high-growth SaaS companies, gaining firsthand exposure to the operational friction finance teams face daily.
He then transitioned into product and strategy, spending several years at Maxio building and scaling its payments infrastructure and partner ecosystem. That arc, from accounting to operator to executive, shapes how he thinks about finance beyond a reporting function, but as a driver of growth.
At Maxio, Jon has led initiatives delivering triple-digit year-over-year growth in payments and channel sales, while partnering directly with C-suite and board members on corporate strategy, pricing, and M&A.
With AI woven into his own work, Jon has operated as Maxio’s “customer zero”, compressing cycle times, sharpening forecasting, and reducing the manual work that has long defined back-office operations.
Jon holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Accounting from Penn State University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Last Month's Financial Package
We owe our bankers the same thing every month: balance sheet, income statement, cash flow, and an ARR roll-forward. In the old days, that would mean pulling the actuals out of our ERP, a few reports out of Maxio, putting it into the standard template and ensuring it all reconciles. In the old days, that could take anywhere between six to eight hours.

Our books are clean, and our close is solid. But I'm still changing how our finance team works at Maxio, which has been a little hard to explain. Because when a finance leader restructures a team, everyone assumes something broke. But I told my team the truth, which is that we're changing something that isn't broken.
